Fedora 11 Coming Soon

Fedora 10 codes Cambridge, recently released last few months with additional hot features. Now, Fedora developers are on the go to release the next version of Fedora. A German startup launched Club Cooee, a 3D instant messaging application in a closed beta stage. This service is a combination of traditional instant messaging / chatting application such as Yahoo Messenger and 3D social network such as Second Life that allows users to talk using 3D avatars to express emotions and share photos or links visually.

This application has an interesting look with the intuitive user interface and beautiful graphics. Each user can choose for their 3D avatars. Kenai Site Hosting for Open Source Project

Sun Microsystems attempted to compete with Google Code and GitHub, through Kenai Project, a hosting site for open source project from Sun, which is launched in beta version. According to Nick Sieger, project engineer of Kenai, the main objective of this project is not to compete with the existing hosting sites.

Developers can become the host of their project without additional cost at the site, plus the ease of Subversion and Mercurial control system. Firefox 3.1, Support Open Source Video

Mozilla will soon release a new version of Firefox, which can support the use of open source video software. Firefox 3.1 will be released next year and will have support tag HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language) which will be used for attaching video feature in a web page. Firefox 3.1 will also support free video format, Ogg Theora.

Firefox developers said that the party will start working with Theora and will include a new feature in Firefox 3.1 browser. While the codes for Ogg Theora video so far is still in development and will use the common cross-platform code. When the code is finished, Firefox users don’t have to download the plug-in to play Theora video content. So, web developers do not need to use JavaScript anymore to launch the video.
