I actually think this is a good idea. Those animations are incredibly cheesy, and I’d rather use a normal keyboard with IM on my laptop, but this is still pretty cool. It sounds like Second Life, except it’s free to PS3 owners. Good job, Sony… this time.

Because I’m such a Nintendo fanboy, I just have to say this: Nintendo should make some sort of online community like this. They already have Miis, so this would be the next logical step. Just an idea…

Some people have already started using their Nintendo Wii to help loose weight, but this is taking it to the next level. These Wii Weights would weigh only 1-4 pounds, but could really turn a few minutes of Wii Boxing into an extreme workout. Although, this is just a concept, so it may never hit stores.

Nintendo has recalled the controller wrist straps on the early versions of the Wii. The Wii’s that were shipped in December already have the new strap that Nintendo is sending out. To see if your Wii controller strap is being recalled go to the Nintendo website. There is a link on that page that says “Click Here”, just click that, enter all your info, including you Wii serial number, and Nintendo will see if you need the new wrist straps, if you do then Nintendo will sent you the new straps for no charge.

boxing-gloves-for-wii.jpgSomeone (Company, person, etc. not really known) has made a nice pair of Wii boxing gloves (for the low price of $22) right for Wii sports. Just slip these bad boys on and your ready to box like a pro. It even comes with diagrams on how to fit the wii controller into the gloves.

Today, January 26th, Nintendo launched the Wii News Channel. Contrary to many rumors, this is actually NOT a paid service. It’s free. Here’s a video I made of a few of the features:

It’s pretty awesome. You can either just browse a collection of news clips, or, even better, see a weather-channel style globe that you can spin around in with the Wii-mote and click floating pics for news stories. And these aren’t little paragraphs, they’re full articles from popular newspapers like The Washington Post and The New York Times. And when you click on one of the floating pictures an article pops up and minimizes the map to the side. So as you read a story on the left the location of its source is on the right and pictures are embedded in the article. Another great feature is the slide show, which scrolls through the globe and displays random news headlines on your screen. It’s really great, but a hard to describe. So just watch the video.

Added by Branman10:
The Wii news channel launched today and you can now check recent news right on your internet connected Wii. You can check National News, International News, Sports, Arts/Entertainment, Business, Health/Science, and Technology headlines with the press of a button. You can also watch a slide show that goes through all of the news articles, and see a full globe to see were things are happening right now. Its really cool and now all of the Wii channels are launched! GO WII!!!!

Two people have taken a Wii remote and turned it into a interface for a large robot arm! They hooked up a tennis racket and a Sword to the thing and tested it out!

What are the top 3 games everyone is waiting for? For each of the 3 next-gen systems I gave 1 game that’s the most anticipated. Here we go:

Halo 3

Xbox 360: Halo 3
Halo and Halo 2 were two of the greatest games in gaming history. So why not Halo 3?

Super Smash Bros.

Wii: Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Super Smash Bros. series have both been classics. With the new type of controllers the Wii has, this game looks amazing.

PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Though I don’t have a PS3, this games looks like it will have a different type of gameplay with some of the best graphics on the console to date.

There are so many games to chose from and it’s hard to narrow it down to only 1 for each system! Leave a comment with your top 3 anticipated games if you feel otherwise. Thanks!

28 year old Jennifer Strange was found dead Friday a few hours after taking part in a water drinking contest.

“They were small little half-pint bottles, so we thought it was going to be easy,” said fellow contestant James Ybarra of Woodland. “They told us if you don’t feel like you can do this, don’t put your health at risk.”

Some genius came up with the idea to hold a “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” contest at the radio station KDND 107.9. Mrs. Strange was one of th contestants who showed up.
“I was talking to her and she was a nice lady. She was telling me about her family and her three kids and how she was doing it for kids.” one contestant said.
Reports show that the woman died of water intoxication (an unsafe level of electrolytes in the body due to rapid intake of water).

A few days ago I had the chance to play the PS3 and Wii side-by-side at a friend’s house. In my own home I’ve had nothing but fun with the Wii. I turn it on, press A and start playing. No problems. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is just about the best gaming experience I’ve ever had. Yes, the game looks like it’s on a GameCube, but I don’t care. I don’t need any fancy graphics, or HD disk players, or even just DVD players built in. It didn’t matter to me as long as I have having fun. And I still have that philosophy. But when I played the PS3 on Saturday I actually had second thoughts. As much as I hate Sony and as many faults that I could find in the PS3, I had a good time. The graphics were truly incredible. Perhaps not as much as I expected with all the hype, it looks the same as a 360, but incredible. They did take me further into the game. Sitting 4 feet away from a huge Plasma TV I felt real.
