Here’s an awesome picture I found on Digg.com. From http://bestpicever.com/pic-132-Tornado-rainbow. I love how the raindrops are distorted, even though that’s only because of the camera.

tornado-lightning.jpgtornado-lightning-2.jpgAnd here’s a couple more cool pictures of tornadoes. If you click on either you can see a bigger version. And the rest of this site (BestPicEver.com) has some other pretty nice photos, including non-weather-related ones. I like the butterfly with transparent wings, the tip of the iceberg, the chair with balloons, and especially the water droplet. Unfortunately, though, the pages on that site take quite a long time to load.

Apparently the iPhone isn’t as fragile as everyone thought. PC World, among other things, dropped it onto concrete a few times and rubbed the screen with a key, but the tempered glass screen didn’t show “any visible scratches”. The only signs of damage were some scuffs on the shiny chrome sides. It seems that it actually was a good idea for Apple to use a glass screen instead of a plastic one. Goos job, Apple. You can see PC World’s video here and read their article here.

(and thanks to Engadget.com for their excellent iPhone coverage that pointed out this article and provided the picture.)

The iPhone is coming in about 5 minutes from when I’m writing this, and Gizmodo.com is doing a live unboxing at 6:15. And Engadget.com has live-updated, multi store in this post.

omg I can’t wait, not that I’m crazy enough topay that much for one, but it looks cool (shiney = good, shiney + Apple Logo = ****ing awesome). And I heard that the firts things the Apples stores will do when they get the shipments is a firmware update to add some last minute functionality like picture messaging. Cool. Kind of like what the Wii and PS3 did; they begged for an update the moment you got them out of the box and onto the internet.

Hey! I just updated the Engadget page and it says they’re letting the first guy buy one in an AT&T store in Montague, St. Brooklyn!

So the Apple iPhone is coming at 6pm this Saturday (June 29), and most people are pretty excited. Everywhere you look, iPhone, iPhone, iPhone; it’s inescapable.

Gizmodo.com was nice enough to make a list of the features the iPhone will NOT have.

  • Songs as Ringtones
  • Games
  • Any flash support
  • Instant Messaging
  • Picture messages (MMS)
  • Video recording
  • Voice recognition or voice dialing
  • Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Streaming (A2DP)
  • One-size-fits-all headset jack (May have to buy an adapter for certain headphones)

Interesting. I’m just disappointed that the iPhone is AT&T only. I have Verizon, which is actually better service, but never has any of the really cool phones. But if it makes a call, I guess that’s all that counts, right? An iPhone would be nice, though. Seriously, though, didn’t Jobs promise when he first revealed the iPhone that it would have Adobe Flash and Java support? Whatever happened to that? and if it has a camera and the AT&T plan includes “visual voicemail” (whatever the heck that is), why can’t it record videos?

Tim Knowles of timknowles.co.uk put a camera in a box and mailed it to himself, setting the hidden device to take a picture every 10 seconds. He recorded a total of 6994 images and says he put them into a slideshow, but I can’t find it. I could only find this small image of highlights: (click link to see image) Continue reading »

Haha! And what if the whole hallway could be moved so when you leave you actually end up in a a different part of the building, then when you go back you find yourself in a completely different room?

Flashbag: Inflatable Flash Drive

Russian designer Dima Komissarov has an idea of making an inflatable flash drive which would get larger depending on how many files you have stored in it. Whenever a file is placed into the flash drive the micro pump will blow up the bag around it. Of course, When the flash drive is full it will not “Blow-up” as in “Explode” it will just get filled up to the point where it looks like it’s going to pop, but then it will display an error message on your PC. I wonder if when it’s completely empty if it will deflate all the way, or if it will deflate just a little bit making the flash drive look like a normal rectangular box like shown in the picture? When this product is released I will definitely get one just to mess around with the inflation and deflation of it.

RPS

http://www.wikihow.com/Win-at-Rock%2C-Paper%2C-Scissors

lol. Tip number 2:

Know rookie tendencies. The World Rock Paper Scissors Society claims rookie men tend to lead with rock. If you’re playing a spontaneous game against a male rookie, there’s an increased chance that his opening throw will be rock, so you’ll want to go with paper. Why do men start with rock? Perhaps the clenched fist evokes power and makes guys feel tough. If you’re playing a female rookie, however, keep in mind that competitive player Jason Simmons claims that women tend to start with scissors, so go with rock.

The “World Rock Paper Scissors Society”. Hilarious. Insightful, though. Next time I play RPS I’m starting with ’scissors’.
